MODERATELY DEEP  TRANCE

Using the Waking Method, Sleeping Method, Narco Hypnosis or the like;  this level of induction is best described as being in a continuum of Levels 25 thru 28.   This state of Hypnotic Trance goes beyond the Deep Trance, in that Dissociation is manitained with eyes opened, while the subject manifests Complete Somnambulism.

Somnambulism {Latin;  somnus, sleep, + ambulo, to walk}, Sleepwalking;  When induced by Hypnosis, is a process displayed by the subject involving complex motor acts (occurring at the request of the hypnotist) where such purposeful behavior is forgotten, or not remembered.

This level is classical behavior of the individual in a Moderately Deep Trance :   the perceptual-motor effects in which the subject displays an ability to perform such complex acts as Automatic Writing or Automatic Speaking;  the compulsive Post-Hypnotic behaviors;  the Amnesias;  all show much involvement of the self in the role!   Here is illustrated most forcefully, the operation of the as-if mechanism of nonconscious involvement of the subject, without disrupting the level of Trance, followed by complete amnesia of the event when awakened. The As-If Mechanism Of Nonconscious Involvement.

Hallucinations that are experienced hypnotically, are suggested experiences the subject can have which are removed from current, objective realities.   An hallucination is a sensory experience that does not arise from external stimulation.   It is possible to hypnotically facilitate visual, auditory, kinesthetic (as in experiencing cold or heat in the room or on some suggested part of the subject's body), gustatory (such as dysgeusia), and olfactory halluicinations.

Further, hallucinations can be characterized as being either Positive, or Negative.
A positive hallucination can be defined as having the experience of something that is not objectively present.   A negative hallucination, on the other hand, is not experiencing some sensation that objectively is present (such as anosmia).    When the latter observation is carried out with the subject's eyes open, the subject has reached a Profoundly Deep State of Hypnosis. Anosmia is the process of being unable to smell an odor while in Trance !
