Vehicles of Consciousness
« The Essential Self Lives Inwardly In Ways That Cannot Be Given Full Outward Expression.»
The Higher Consciousness of Man
is taken to be that part of our nature which operates with abstract ideas, broad views and with clear understanding. As with the lower duality of emotional-thinking, there is a higher duality which is the Illumined Mïnd. Here the intellect is replaced by the Mïnd and the feelings or emotions by the principle which is best described as Intuition (Inspiration, or Understanding).
Enjoy Life, and take Pleasure in
The Gift Of Pure Being !
Concentration centers the Mïnd and focuses it directly upon the subject. Meditation envelops the Mïnd around the subject, enlarging the Mïnd's field of consciousness. Therefore concentration is limited to that which stands before the Mïnd's Eye. Meditation is creative and opens the Mïnd to deeper perception and understanding of the subject.
Meditation utilizes concentration in its highest form. Concentration consists of freeing the attention from distractions and in focusing it on any thought in which one may be interested. Meditation in its highest form is that special form of concentration in which the attention has been liberated from restlessness and is so focused on God. Meditation in its hightest form can be, therefore, concentration used to know God!
In response to the love of exalted worshipers, God has manifested Himself in various Cosmic forms. He also manifests Himself in truth, in divine qualities, in the lives of the Saints and Avatars, and in the Soul of every human being. Thus meditation on any of these concepts produces a deeper realization of the Omnipresent Absolute, of HE who is ever existing, ever-conscious, ever-new Bliss. And because meditation gives direct perception of The Almighty, it raises the practice of religion above the differences of dogma!
Methods Of Meditation
Meditation (Dhyãna in Sanskrit)
This altered state of consciousness is accomplished by the concentration of thought. It is the continuation of focused attention, taken beyond the plane of sensuous perception. It too can be focused in one of three different areas; 1) on an External Object, 2) on an Internal Object, or 3) on an Idea.
There are certain preliminary practices which are a great aid to Meditation.
First, there is the simple method of sparing a little time each morning or evening to turning over in the Mïnd the events of the day, and thinking about them in a delicate manner. This is a great rest and recreation for Mïnd, emotions, and body; it purifies and refines our lives and ploughs and narrows the field, preparing it for inspiration and intuition. These reflections clear up Disorder in the Mïnd and at the same time, help to remove the other two D's of the Mïnd - Dullness and Drift.
Second, Do not mentally review any problem constantly. Let it rest at times and it may work itself out; but see that you do not rest so long that your discrimination is diminished. Rather, use these rest periods to go deep within the calm region of your Inner Self; that place of hope; that safe haven from the rigors of the world. Attuned with your Inner Self, you will be able to think correctly regarding everything you do; and if your thoughts or actions have gone astray, they can be realigned. This power of Divine Attunement can be achieved by practice and effort in Self-Hypnosis and Meditation.
Once this has been accomplished, begin the Meditation as follows :
Sit on a straight chair; or in a cross legged position on a firm surface. Keep your spine straight and your chin parallel to the floor. With eyes closed, gently focus your gaze and concentrate your attention on that point between the eyebrows. This is known as the glabella, and is the seat of concentration and of the spiritual eye, or Divine perception, in man.
With your attention fixed on this center of calmness and concentration, use your Self-Hypnosis technique to put yourself in Trance. Once you have reached Level 22 and are able to open your eyes without losing your state of dissociation; begin to practice the Meditation you have chosen from the list below.
Audibly or mentally, repeat the words slowly, concentrating on them intently until you become completely absorbed in their inner meaning. Meditate until you feel that the concept upon which you are meditating has become a part of your consciousness! The first verification of your accomplishment is the experience of an ineffable state of peace within you. This evolves with practice, patience, and persistence, into a state of joy that is almost humanly inconceivable. Once you have touched the Source of truth and life, all nature will respond to you. Finding The Almighty within you, you will find HIM without, in all people and in all conditions!
 Step One |
The External Object |
Meditation is the complete flow of thought around the object which you have successfully concentrated upon. It is always preceded by concentration. Concentration produces a very wide-awake consciousness; consciousness at its best. In meditation, this wide-awakeness is maintained and applied to fully reflection upon its chosen subject. Meditation is therefore the opposite of going to sleep! |
 Step Two |
The Internal Object: The Sound |
|
Meditation is a mental process which may best be described as, "Having a discussion within oneself." A chosen subject is considered from all angles until gradually all opinions merge into one comprehensive experience of understanding. The proficient in deep Meditation becomes one with the object of his thinking, but he retains his mental consciousness. He thus arrives at an appreciation for the reality or truth of that upon which he meditates.

 Step Three |
The Idea : In Silence
|
|
Meditation includes all acts of serious and sustained reflection. It is continued attention taken beyond the plane of sensation oriented perception. Meditation is the consideration of a subject in its many aspects and relationships. In concentration, we fix our Mïnd on a subject.
In Meditation we think around the subject; this being the stage of comprehension; the act of understanding. The subject unfolds before the Mïnd's eye to produce in one's Consciousness a deeper meaning because one's attention is taken beyond the level of the five senses. |
