«He That Seeketh Findeth; And To Him That Knocketh It Shall Be Opened;  For Only By Patience, Practice, And Ceaseless Importunity Can A Man Open
The Door To The Temple Of Knowledge! »

This is where it begins!

Introduction

WHILE LISTENING TO THE CD on Self-Hypnotic Learning & Study Techniques, you will be utilizing Direct Suggestions and Conditioned Responses to assist you in your goals.   Remember to begin your work with this exercise by first establishing a deep state of Self-Hypnosis, to at least Level 22 where you are able to maintain your state of Dissociation even with your eyes open. See Level 22
Below is a convenient twelve-step check list of suggestions.    Making use of the following suggestions, you will be praticing and perfecting other psychological principles such as imitation, orderliness, motivation and will power.   They will help you further to improve your concentration and study techniques!   Listen To The Recording Twice Daily, Until You Can Reach The Deep Trance Level

Study   Techniques

(1) Remember What Self-Hypnosis Is:

Hypnosis is not sleep!   In contrast to sleep;  Hypnosis is a unique process of deep concentration and hightened awareness.   Although in sleep and Hypnosis alike, one's awareness of their outer environment is reduced; while in the state of Hypnosis one's focused awareness  (-- awareness of their selected object of concentration --)  is at its optimal capacity.   In sleep, one's focused awareness is almost completely obliterated!

(SeeFocused AwarenessFocused Awareness )

Self-Hypnosis is the acquired ability to focus all of your mental awareness on one job and to hold it there until the job is done.   Plus it is the ability to retain, recall, and put to use whatever you have learned, whenever you need it!
Since Hypnosis is a mental state of profound abstraction and absorption, this acquired mental mechanism of dissociation can be directed by you to selectively exclude all outside sources of distraction from your conscious awareness, while being fully focused on your work. For Study, go to Trance Level 22

(SeeSelf-Hypnösis Self-Hypnösis )

(2) Use A Distraction Eliminator:

Whenever you catch your mind wandering away from the subject of your concentration, just hear -- with effortless attention -- the tick of a nearby clock, or the hum of a fan, or the rhythm of your own beating heart, or some other monotonous sound.   You will be pleased at how easily and quickly the distraction is eliminated.  Distractions Are Anything That Breaks Your Concentration.

(3) Prepare For The Job With Concentration:

This may be accomplished in several ways;  A) By starting to think about your work before actually sitting down to begin.   When not otherwise occupied, think about your work when you get up, between classes, etc..   B) By starting the actual work forcefully in order to warm up quickly (do not procrastinate)!   C) By grouping your work in short rhythms of extra concentration.   (This prevents that major loss of intensity which occurs from concentrating too long on one subject), and D) When concentrations lags, look around for a couple of seconds, and take a few deep breaths, then get back to work!  Prepare To Work Successfully By Being Prepared.

(4) Remove Distractions From Your
Outer Environment:

Choose to ignore those distracting stimuli from your outer environment; A) sensations of TOUCH -- heat, cold, excessive pressure from your clothes, the chair, etc..  Choose to Ignore Distractions B) sensations of SIGHT;  movements of objects around you, objects on the desk, pictures, etc..   C) sensations of SOUNDS;  those irregular sounds, talking, radios and televisions, recordings with spoken words, etc..   D) SMELLS and TASTES that may arise and distract.   E) Remove disorder from the arrangements on your desk, study room;  i.e., keep tools close at hand and in good orderly arrangement.  Choose Your Study Area Carefully.

(5) Remove Distractions From Your
Inner Environment:

Choose to ignore all of those wandering thoughts about people and places, possible knocks at the door, or telephone calls.
   A) Avoid and reject obsessive thoughts, worries, phobias, compulsions, etc..   B) Avoid and reject all daydreaming.   C)  Cut down to a minimum all of your inner distresses such as head or stomach aches, joint pains, etc..   D) Anticipate those interruptions in your concentration by putting a "Busy" sign on the outside of the door, and taking the telephone off the hook!  Clear Your Mind Of Intruding Thoughts.

(6) Take Command Of Your Body & Mind:

Have what you need at your desk before you begin to studyA) Have all of the necessary tools and materials you will need before you get started.   B) Cultivate a schedual -- using those times when you work best.   C) Practice, and practice, and practice some more on self-dicipline and on your ability to concentration!  Your Work Environment Is As Important As Your Work.

(7) Make Full Use Of Motivation:

            A) Think of every possible motive for doing this work, and repeat often those motives which have the best effect in keeping you on the job.   B) Keep your mind focused on your goal.   C) Work around deadlines.   D) If you find very little interest in your present subject, motivate yourself from some related or borrowed interest, i.e., if you don't like history, have fun by using your memory techniques to memorize names, dates and places.     E) Endorse yourself -- feel good about each of your accomplishments!  Make Your Study Time An Enjoyable Time.

(8) Foster Good Physical Conditions:Always have Good Lighting

            A) Maintain good general health; sufficient rest and exercise, eat healthy food, etc..  Use a proper desk and chair B) Remove any physical defects as much as possible, such as poor vision or hearing, aching teeth, etc..   C) Maintain good working conditions by establishing a good source of lighting, comfortable room temperature, wearing loose clothing, and the use of a proper desk and chair.  Care For Yourself In Every Way For Study, As You Would For Another Person.

(9) Cultivate Good Attitudes & Habits:

  1. Develope a wholesome desire and ambition to succeed.
  2. Be confident and have the will to win.
  3. Develope an interest in your subjects by making them personal, use the knowledge.
  4. Make a habit of planning your daily study periods -- establishing definite times and a definite place for study.
  5. Establish a special place for you to study and study only!
  6. Start Vigorously!  Set Your Mind For Successful Study.

(10) Develope Effective Methods Of Reading:

            A) First examine the book, the table of contents, the preface, purpose, index, etc..Read the material Several Times
   B) Then read the text RAPIDLY for an overview of the material;  then read it QUICKLY to get the paragraph headings and the topic sentences;  then read it the third time -- CAREFULLY, slowly, thoroughly and thoughtfully.   Stop at the end of the paragraphs;  ask questions;  be sure you understand what you are reading.   Tie up the assignment with the preceding assignments.
   C) Take notes or underline in your text or both.
   D) Outling mentally or in writing -- the entire assignment.
   E) Be sure to get the fundamental ideas and the high points.  Outline Your Study Material In Your Mind.

(SeeReading Reading  Skills )

(11) Improve Your Ability To Remember:

            A) Have the confidence that you CAN remember!   B) Get the meanings of the high points and make quick associations with them.   Improve Memory with the use of Acronyms and MnemonicsC) Repeat the material as you go along.   D) Learn with the intention of recalling the information later.   E) Stop during your studying and make yourself recall what you have learned.   F) When facts have no logical connection, form some arbitraty association with them:   by the using ACRONYMS;  the use of initials to spell out words, i.e., S.O.P. (Standard Operating Procedure), and MNEMONICS;  the substitution of a word or a group of words to remember not only the information but also to remember the order of that information!  You can significantly increase your ability to remember by structuring Strings of Information

For example, a MNEMONIC for the bones of the lower limb could be:

"Help For Police To Find The Missing Person
<==>
Hip Femur Patella Tibia Fibula Tarsals Metatarsals Phalanges"

(12) Reward Yourself:

Reward Yourself! THIS MENTAL CONDITIONING PROCEDURE is a very important step in developing good study skills and techniques, .... REWARDS!   Since you have made a special effort to sacrifice your time and energy toward your achedemic goals, it is equally important that you positively re-inforce those efforts with a reward for making and seeing them through.   It is equally important that the reward you choose is a good one.   Any old reward won't work.   You have to really want it!   Decide, before you begin your studies, what the reward will be, and do not allow yourself to enjoy it until you have completed your studing goals!  Earn That Reward
